Disclaimer: Although I have made efforts to ensure this document is correct, it is your responsibiltiy to prove the accuracy of all information in this document before invoking it in any way. Microsoft has released an update to it's Windows XP operating system. This update is called Windows XP Service Pack 2, and can be downloaded from Microsoft's website, or through windows updates. Rockwell is recommending that its customers do not install SP2 at this time because they have not have time to test it with their software, however, I installed it anyway, and here is what I found so far. RSLogix applications seem to run normally. Since SP2 adds a firewall, RSLinx may request that a connection be made through the firewall. This depends on your own applications, but after the firewall was configured to allow access to RSLinx, it seemed to function normally. For panelbuilder 32. For the last few months I had a problem with panelbuilder 32 under windows xp. The screen was always blank when opening an application, and the validation screen would not appear. SP2 fixed this problem for me so it is no longer an issue. I'll keep you informed of any problems I find with any other RS software under SP2. Ricky Bryce |
