Course Description: This course focuses on a systematic troubleshooting approach to solving problems occurring with mechanical systems. Root Cause Analysis is taught so that recurrent system breakdowns and excessive downtime can be reduced. Problem identification, cause analysis and various troubleshooting techniques will be discussed and practiced.

Course Objectives:
At the conclusion of this course the student will be able to:
  • Identify potential problems and determine solutions
  • Use Root Cause Analysis to determine the origins of a breakdown
  • Identify potential failures in bearings, belt drives, gears, pumps and chain drives
  • Use new methods of identifying potential failures
  • Identify how to prevent repeat failures in a mechanical system
