Software Used: RSNetworx for DeviceNet with your choice of PLC-5, SLC-500, or ControlLogix systems
Course Description: Students will learn how to configure a DeviceNet system, and trace the flow of information from field devices to memory locations in the PLC. This course can be delivered with the PLC-5, SLC-500, or ControlLogix system. This course utilizes RSNetworx for DeviceNet to configure the DeviceNet system.
Prerequisites: Students attending this class must have a general understanding of PLC operation and communication.
Course Objectives:
  • Demonstrate an understanding of the DeviceNet network by identification of DeviceNet components
  • Identify how DeviceNet components differ from other network communication components
  • Demonstrate an understanding of the use of RSNetworx for DeviceNet
  • Demonstrate the ability to troubleshoot a DeviceNet network
  • Outline:
  • Review PLC Hardware
  • Establish communication with the PLC (From the PC)
  • DeviceNet Hardware
  • Configure a DeviceNet driver (RSLinx)
  • Running RSNetworx
  • Read device parameters and properties
  • Map devices to the PLC
  • Block transfer
  • Error codes
  • Enable the Scanner
  • Utilize DeviceNet I/O in a PLC Program
  • Trace the information flow in real plant programs
  • Practice troubleshooting I/O problems
